Caroling at the White House with the Seven Forbidden Words

Protestors sing for Trump's impeachment

Some three dozen people gathered across the street from the White House a few days before Christmas to sing carols to President Donald Trump.

A dozen were dressed in the red cloaks of the handmaidens from The Handmaid’s Tale. Their signs evoked recent events, such as the seven forbidden words.

Others wore the pink pussy hats popularized a year ago on the women’s march or carried signs recycled from the many protests of the past year.

One trio evoked Dickens’ 1843 novel.

These were the words on the song sheet passed out to the carolers:

(WE WISH YOU A MERRY XMAS)
We wish you a swift impeachment,
We wish you a swift impeachment,
We wish you a swift impeachment,
and a long prison term.
Good tidings we bring, to all the blue states.
We wish you a swift impeachment, and a Mexican cell mate.

(SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN)
You better watch out,
You better not cry,
Better not pout,
I’m telling you why,
Bob Mueller is coming to town.
He’s making a list
And checking it twice
Gonna find out who’s FASCIST or nie.
Bob Mueller is coming to town.

Also for you:
